Handbook of Urban Intervention
by Eduardo Srur

Released in 2012 by BEĨ Editora, the book Manual de Intervenção Urbana (Urban Intervention Manual), by visual artist Eduardo Srur, is now available as an e-book to everyone interested. The free digital version is available for a limited time, so the public can read and research it online.

The printed edition sold out in 2014. The book tells the story of more than 16 years of the artist's career and puts each of his interventions in context, showing how they were made and the impact they had on the city.

“My interest in the project came about because the printed book sold out and many people asked me to read it. In a way, it is like my interventions: everyone will be able to see it and have access to it. The book gives ordinary citizens the chance to take a new look at the urban landscape around them,” explains Eduardo Srur.

In this e-book, readers can learn about the conception and outcomes of works such as PETS, from 2008, which consisted of installing 20 giant PET bottles on the banks of the Tietê River; Sobrevivência (Survival), also from 2008, in which the artist placed life jackets on sixteen São Paulo monuments to “visually reactivate elements of the city's history, architecture and social life,” in Srur's words; Touro Bandido, an unauthorized intervention on the cows of the Cow Parade; and A Arte Salva (Art Saves), from 2011, in which 360 buoys were thrown into the reflecting pool of the National Congress in Brasília, among other memorable actions carried out by Srur.
