An installation featuring 50 objects suspended by steel cables and nylon threads in the interior atrium of the Júlio Prestes train station. Most of the bicycles used in the exhibition were historic, as they belonged to the collection of the Caloi Museum, the country’s first bicycle manufacturer.
The Júlio Prestes Station, along with the Luz Station, marked the beginning of rail transportation and urban development in the city. Currently, the station is listed as a historic landmark but is in urgent need of restoration.
The installation near the large stained-glass window allowed natural light to shine on the bicycles, transforming the appearance of the artwork during the day. Flying bicycles are part of the popular imagination, and this artwork aimed to rekindle the public’s interest in local architecture.
