In 1996, I began my first series of paintings. After a trip along the Pacific coast and through the Andes mountain range, I returned to the city of São Paulo and, based on my photographs, created realistic compositions featuring old, abandoned vehicles set against natural landscapes.
The series evokes the introspective and solitary atmosphere of travel. The vehicles are symbols of passage, transitory elements of formative experiences.
