Sculptures of bulls took over the cows at the Cow Parade event on Paulista and Faria Lima avenues in São Paulo to challenge the concept of the exhibition , which is considered the world’s largest public art event.
The “Bandit Bull” evoked the Brazilian imagination—an animal that was never tamed in rodeos and became a national legend.
For me, the cow became sterile as an object of reflection, and the bull performed an artistic insemination on her. Since this was an unauthorized action, I had to respond to a police investigation for obscenity, defamation, and property damage, initiated by the event organizers. In my defense, I reiterated that art cannot be tamed.
